How gas heaters work
Gas heaters burn natural gas or propane to heat water directly as it passes through the unit, which lets them raise pool temperature quickly — often several degrees per hour — regardless of how cold the outside air is. This makes them a good fit for homeowners who heat the pool occasionally, for a weekend gathering, or want reliable heat during a DFW cold snap. The tradeoff is a higher cost per hour of operation compared to a heat pump.
