Week 1: draining and demolition
The project starts by draining the pool completely, which takes anywhere from a few hours to a full day depending on pool size and drainage method. Once drained, the crew removes the old interior finish, and if tile and coping are being replaced, those come out too. This is when hidden problems — cracks, plumbing leaks, bond beam deterioration — get discovered, and a good contractor will document and discuss any of these with you before proceeding rather than after the fact.
