Water has to leave the deck and it must not run into the pool or toward the house. We set slope, add deck drains where the grade will not cooperate, and tie into existing drainage so the deck does not become a standing-water problem after every storm.
Expansive clay is the reason North Texas decks crack. Pavers ride on a flexible base and can be lifted and reset if the ground moves. Poured concrete needs proper control joints, reinforcement, and an intact expansion joint at the coping. We choose the system based on how much your yard has already moved.
Every material we install around water has a textured or honed surface appropriate to a wet deck. Polished stone belongs indoors, not at the edge of a pool.
