New Pool Build with Stacked-Stone Waterfall in Benbrook, TX

This Benbrook backyard had the room for a pool but nothing to anchor it. We built a freeform gunite pool from the ground up and crowned the far end with a stacked-stone waterfall that emptied into the pool.

What we found

  • Open backyard with space cleared for a new pool
  • No visual anchor planned at the far end
  • No existing circulation for a water feature
  • No lighting or evening interest

The homeowner's goal

Build a new freeform pool with a stacked-stone waterfall as the centerpiece and give the backyard a resort feel.

What we did

  1. 1. Excavated and formed the freeform gunite shell
  2. 2. Set plumbing, drains, and electrical for the pool and feature
  3. 3. Sprayed the gunite shell and let it cure
  4. 4. Installed a stacked-stone waterfall face with multiple spillways
  5. 5. Upgraded the pump to handle the feature flow
  6. 6. Poured the concrete deck around the new pool
  7. 7. Applied the French Grey quartz interior and added color LED lighting

Results

  • A brand-new freeform pool built from excavation to start-up
  • Stacked-stone waterfall anchors the far end of the yard
  • Waterfall runs off the pool's own circulation system
  • Evening lighting turns the feature into a focal point
  • Fresh French Grey quartz ties the whole yard together
The waterfall is the best part of the yard. Worth every day of the build.
