New Gunite Pool Build with Outdoor Kitchen and Cedar Pavilion in Fort Worth, TX

This Fort Worth homeowner had a brand-new house on an open acreage lot and a completely bare backyard. We built the pool, spa, tanning ledge, stamped concrete decking, and a cedar pavilion with a full outdoor kitchen as one continuous project.

What we found

  • Bare dirt backyard with no pool, deck, or shade
  • New construction grade that had to be cut and compacted for the pool shell
  • No gas, water, or electrical service run to the backyard
  • Open pasture exposure with full afternoon sun and no wind break

The homeowner's goal

One finished backyard: a clean geometric pool with a spa and tanning ledge, plus a covered pavilion with a real outdoor kitchen for entertaining year round.

What we did

  1. 1. Laid out and excavated the pool, spa, and tanning ledge on the new-construction grade
  2. 2. Set steel, formed the raised beam, and sprayed the gunite shell
  3. 3. Plumbed the pool, spa, bubblers, and in-floor returns with oversized suction lines
  4. 4. Formed and poured the stamped concrete deck, steps, and pavilion slab
  5. 5. Framed the cedar pavilion with hardware-tied timber posts and a stained tongue-and-groove ceiling
  6. 6. Built the stone-clad outdoor kitchen with bar counter, grill, refrigerator, and sink
  7. 7. Clad the raised pool beam and planter walls in stacked stone with cast-stone caps
  8. 8. Finished the interior, set travertine coping, and started up the equipment and automation

Results

  • Complete backyard delivered in one build instead of phased projects
  • Tanning ledge with bubblers and loungers for shallow-water seating
  • Covered pavilion and outdoor kitchen give shade, cooking, and dining next to the water
  • Stone, travertine, and stamped concrete tie the pool to the new house
  • Spa spillway and LED lighting make the pool usable after dark and in cool weather
We went from a dirt field to the best part of our house. The pavilion and kitchen get used more than our living room.
