Tropical blue pebble interior with a wide deck surround
Pool Tile & Coping · Fort Worth, TX · 2016
Most of these homeowners called about the pool and ended up talking about the deck. Old broom-finish concrete from the 1980s had cracked and settled, ran hot in July, and got slick where it stayed wet. Their goal was a surface that was comfortable barefoot, safe around the steps, and modern enough to match a freshly resurfaced interior. We matched paver and overlay options to each budget — full travertine in some yards, decorative overlays over sound concrete in others.

Before: cracked, settled, hot concrete with trip hazards at the coping joint. After: silver travertine in 16x24 and Roman patterns, Oklahoma flagstone, marble coping, and stamped or colored concrete overlays with turf inlays. The finished decks drain correctly, stay noticeably cooler underfoot, and frame the new interior finish as one complete outdoor living space.
Deck work is one of the fastest ways to modernize a pool remodel, and these DFW projects show why. Most of these homeowners had cracked, hot, slick 1980s concrete decking that made the whole backyard look dated. We installed silver travertine pavers in 16x24 and Roman patterns, Oklahoma flagstone, marble coping, and stamped or colored concrete overlays with turf inlays where the owners wanted softer transitions. The finished decks stay cooler underfoot, drain properly, and frame the new pool interior so the resurfacing work reads as one complete outdoor living space.
